The purpose of this project was to write a grant proposal to fund a newly opened mental health program for Strength in Support in Los Angeles County. The proposed mental health program would be provided for veterans with PTSD and co-morbid conditions. Currently, there are over 300,000 veterans residing throughout Los Angeles County, many of whom have symptoms of PTSD. Yet only 28,000 of these veterans have received mental health treatment offered by the Veterans Affairs (VA) system. Many returning veterans believed there may be negative consequences to their military career trajectory if they openly sought mental health services through the VA. Therefore, the need for agencies unaffiliated with the VA to provide confidential services to veterans are greatly needed. The potential funding source identified for this project was the Bob Woodruff Foundation. The actual submission and funding of this grant was not a requirement for completion of this project.
